Kola Gold - Mayombe Est, Rep of Congo - May 2015

Andrew Jackson visited Kola Gold's Mayombe Est project in the Republic of Congo (not to be confused with the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo), on 21/22 May, 2015.  Kola Gold grew out of the merge between Cora Gold and Congo Gold, both junior explorers.  Kola is focusing on the Mayombe fold belt of Western ROC, a Proterozoic fold belt that wraps around the Archean Congo Craton. In this way, it has parallels with the Zambian Copperbelt stratigraphy.

The company is targeting the hard rock source for the alluvial gold that was originally mined by the Belgians in the 1940s and 50s and is still mined by artisanal miners today.

Access is from Pointe Noire, on the coast.  A newish paved road leads almost to site.

Kola's management comes out of the LionOre Mining stable.
